Main Earth Bonding

This is something that needs doing before any job can be signed off and certified. Main Earth Bonding. I was asked by this customer what it is and why it needs doing.

Regulations are that your main water and your main gas supplies have to be earthed. The reason is that they should never be able to become live (very, very dangerous), so we earth them both next to the stop tap for water and meter for gas to ensure any live part of any circuit to touch the water or gas installation would immediately shut the circuit down.

As regulations go it's a biggie so if you're not sure of your own, do check by your indoor stop tap and your gas meter wherever they may be. The earth clamps should be no further than 1 meter away.
