OH DEAR

Earlier this year i was asked to investigate why a conservatory socket circuit wasn't working any more. Well i found this in the consumer unit. This shows the importance of making a good termination. Whoever had connected this up hadn't been careful enough and though it might have worked fine for a year or two, it did eventually fail. This could have been the start of a major fire but fortunately it stayed contained in the consumer unit. Although the rest of the unit was fine, it was old and time for a new RCD proteced and metal consumer unit. How the client never smelled burning circuit breaker is beyond me.
